•Healthy eating: Summer is a perfect time to eat plenty of fresh, whole foods. The twin cities offer many farmers markets throughout the week days and weekends, offering a variety of locally grown foods.  Shoreview’s farmer’s market is on Tuesday afternoons, White Bear Lake is Friday mornings and Vadnais Heights has a new farmer’s market on Wednesday mornings.

•Stay hydrated: With summer comes heat. Drinking plenty of water during these warm months will help with prevention of dehydration, maintaining a normal electrolyte balance, and becoming constipated.

•Wear sunscreen: Sun protection is very important no matter what shade your skin is! Wearing sunscreen regularly can help prevent against future skin damage, wrinkles, and skin cancer.  When picking out your sunscreen, make sure to choose the safest and healthiest one you can. Check out www.ewg.org for the top picks for safe sunscreen. My personal favorite is the sunscreen from Beauty Counter. •Stay active: With the warmer weather it makes it much easier to do outdoor activities. Go for a family walk after dinner, play a pickup game of soccer or football, plant a family garden, or cool off with swim.

•Pack healthy snacks: With busy summer schedules it can be helpful to have pre-cut vegetables and fruits, cheese sticks, nuts, or beef sticks standby. This can help prevent the last minute drive through experience.

•Take advantage of local events: The twin cities offer many events in the local parks. This could be a fitness class, music in the park, or movie night in the park. White Bear Lake often features yoga in the park or on the beach.
